They can send an officer to address certain wildlife issues, or provide other resources for the control of nuisance wildlife species, and provide help to the residents of Austin with certain wildlife problems. Travis County Animal Control Services most commonly help with domestic animals, such as stray cats or dangerous dogs. They also might help with wildlife issues in various capacities. If you have an animal problem and need assistance, there are several free animal control resources in Austin, Texas. The first thing you can try is your local Travis County animal services, or the free Austin animal control services by calling (512) 974-2000. They may be able to help you with your critter problem, and possibly offer free raccoon removal or free snake removal. But they primarily deal with dogs and cats, and might not help with wildlife. For wildlife-specifice issues, try the Texas Wildlife Commission at (512) 389-8092. They do free wildlife control in Austin and all of Texas. But they often deal with special cases like bears, or illegal hunting. They might not help you with specific cases in your house, like free rodent control or free squirrel removal. At a more local level, you can call Austin Wildlife Rehabilitation at (512) 472-9453 for local free animal removal and trapping, and they may help with providing free critter removal in Austin. But this organization, like all wildlife rehab, mostly focuses on healing and caring for sick or injured wildlife. There's no business that provides free pest control in Austin that will remove wild animals that I know of, like free bat control or free rat removal. Austin wildlife issues:

If a person becomes lost early in the day it is all right to travel (unless he finds that he is traveling in circles) with the hope of stumbling onto some road which could be followed to habitation. Otherwise it is best to try to make an Austin pest control headquarters somewhere in the vicinity and prepare to spend the night. Usually one night is all that is necessary. In any case the pest control headquarters should be made as comfortable as possible. Fire is the most important item in the pest control headquarters. This modern adaptation should not be used except in an emergency, but it is usually effective. Remove the animal control tool from a wildlife trap and empty about half of the powder onto a dry piece of bark. Cover this powder with crumbled, dry bark which is found in decayed stumps or in the interior of dead trees, or stumps where critter trapspeckers have been working. Be sure to keep this dry. Fill the Austin animal control tool end of the partly loaded wildlife trap with cotton cloth, or any cloth of vegetable origin.
